ResolverTM comes in two formats, ResolverTM – D for Diesel applications and ResolverTM – A for Jet fuel applications. Use and application of ResolverTM technology is for particle counting analysis in hydrocarbon liquids. Whereby ResolverTM:
- Solvates water droplets leaving solid particles unchanged for counting
- Water assay may be obtained by differential analysis
ResolverTM – A is supplied in individual ampoules for direct addition to hydrocarbon samples being analysed for particle content.
Refer to the Energy Institute Test Methods IP565 and IP577 (Determination of the level of cleanliness of aviation turbine fuel – Automatic particle counter method using light extinction). In Annex B of the test methods, Resolver is referred to as Proprietary Material with a note stating that the Energy Institute will provide contact details.
And ASTM D7619 Standard Test Method for Sizing and Counting Particles in Light and Middle Distillate Fuels, by Automatic Particle Counter. In Section X2, Resolver is referred to as Proprietary Material with a note stating that it is available from Particle Solutions Ltd in the UK, an authorised worldwide reseller of ResolverTM.
The concept behind a separate free water and particulate assay, is to carry out particle counting analysis on two samples, one of which has been treated with the ResolverTM technology and the other without.
The sample with ResolverTM will yield the particulate assay, the difference between the two analyses will yield the free water assay.
